Matt from VF wanted this text on a shirt so I drew this for him. It's already available and a product shot will be added soon. I think It's my first text-based design without any characters. So I'd love to hear some opinions. Thank you!

It's actually on heather grey. The yellow or something much like it will be available in the spring/summer.

The F crossing behind both times bugs me a bit and I don't know why.
  • NVasion

the f... oh I know what you mean, I'm trying to figure it out but I'm not sure how to stop it from bugging you. Thanks though.
  • gaunty

I think it's because the bottom part would look better across the top cos then it's under, over then under with the E. I have to stop doing celtic designs haha.
  • NVasion

Don't stop doing that, I might be able to learn something from you here. Cause yeah, right now it's under-under-under. You mean Under-over-under would be more dynamic? I tried different Fs and picked something that I liked but I didn't overthink every single crossing in that section.

When you write bubble script like that consider the flow of the script and you will see that the cross of the f would come after the main body of it and therefore would naturally go over the top of what you have already written. Drawing it like you have make it look like a big S. you've actually done the same with the L and E in lemons but it doesn't look as bad. But hey for your first text piece it's still pretty good. Sorry to hijack your post.

    NIce! Looks great!
  • NVasion

I don't mind the hijacking, I'm very thankful for the critique! Matt and I both like this design and it's already printed but I can definitely use this advice for future designs.

It's all good dude! Like Nils said, we're both really happy with the piece and the print came out wonderful. I actually don't mind the overlapping at all. I told him to do something with a very funky/west coast style because this was originally for the summer but I just went ahead and printed a batch for now as well. Thanks again to both of you.
