Is it just me or are 90% of the designs on this site death or occult themed? To each their own, I get that many are into the style but it would be nice as a buyer to see some more variation in theme. Skulls and grim reapers and crescent moons and three-eyed wolves just don't work with every brand but it's rare to see anything else.

I guess the majority of buyers that lurk the site are looking for darker themes, at least i receive a lot more interest with death/occult designs than any other. I still try and keep things varied though.

If you see a style you like maybe hit up the designer, chances are they would be more than happy to create something less dark for once! :-)

You definitely offer a variety of themes. I've noticed that. And I didn't realize that was what most brands/bands were looking for right now so I guess that makes sense if that's the demand. Commissioning a design to create something specific always carries the risk of not nailing what I have in mind which is why I love this site. Allows buyers to choose something ready-made. But maybe that's what I'll have to do. Thanks for the response!

I agree, there are A LOT of these type of designs on here. I would like to see much more diversity in the designs and different themes being explored too. I personally like to come in here to get inspiration, but it has been hard to do that lately. Missing Emptees days :(

Totally. I have no problem with the art style. In fact I'm a big fan of a lot of the clean and simple designs that are trending. Its just that most designers seem fixated on the same dark subject matter. Would love to see some more variety from all of the insanely talented designers on here.

keep on exploring and checking the site and you'll find what you're looking for.
    goodluck mate!

    I do everything on contract.
So when I see death and occult all over my portfolio I have to chalk it up to what the client wants.

It's not so bad, though, in my opinion, as far as paying the bills.

I mean, no, it's not the most inspired concept going around. But at least that stuff never really goes out of fashion- so it stays relevant in your portfolio for a good stretch.

DEATH AND OCCULT ARE MY SPECIALIATY

  • Jupit

according to Spinal Tap "death sells"...
  • CloudCity

I understand it's a popular genre and apparently it gets requested a ton. I didn't mean to disrespect any of the artist who like and specialize in the style. It's being done well. I just find it interesting that in the "artwork for sale" section it's about 90% occult/death themed but in the "tees for sale" section it's more like 50%. Tells me that maybe the market is saturated with the dark stuff.

It's just a matter of trend, really. Designers are going to be hired to create what's trending, which is the more dark/occult stuff. Those creating designs for sale are also going to do that so they can sell it off easier. Just a few years ago, the bubbly/pop/neon style was on trend and that's all you saw.

That's not to say that there aren't still people designing in that style. That said, if that's something you want to see more of as a brand, then hire a designer to create something like that for you.
