Most of those who know me, know that I am heavily involved in weightlifting and fitness. Over the years I got tired of seeing a heavy surge of poor designs in the fitness arena, and I've been working with as many companies as possible in order to change that. Over the last few months I've decided to try something of my own that I've been wanting to do for quite some time. The Iron Union.

I don't expect it to be huge, just trying to make my mark in a community that I am heavily involved and passionate about.

    like it!
  • Killer Napkins

I literally had this convo with a friend a while ago about fitness brands. I do crossfit and I would love to wear some cool fitness designs but most of the stuff that's out is an eye sore. I can't wait to see what else you come up with, I would love to rock some dope gear at my Box.
  • Dieselbrah

Do you compete? I compete in powerlifting and has a brand that's pretty well established. I agree, lots dumbass designs in the fitness world.
  • dbdesign

Thanks fellas, working to order the samples this week, will post photos up once I receive them back!

99% of fitness brands are terrible, and the market is flooded with them. They have a terrible message, shitty designs and no concept of what is cool. I want to slice right through all of them and trim the fat.

I don't compete, I wish I could but I don't have enough time- I just light weights. My brother is a bodybuilder so I compete through him haha. What is your brand?
  • dbdesign

Change of direction, I had to cancel my order because Printful.com couldn't print this design saying it was too intricate.

Does anyone have a good source for small run embroidered patching on hats?

Looking to have this red image embroidered as a patch and the patch sewn to the hat, as opposed to direct stitching the design on the hat. I'm not in goods production so I am not familiar with many vendors for this type of situation.

  • brett_district

I have used Moritz embroidery for patches. Pretty good. They can also make them with a heat-seal backing so you can apply the patches with a heat press. Probably a lot easier/cheaper than sewing, and I don't know what the glue is, but they never come off

Also, check another embroidery shop, because there is no reason that can't be stitched directly onto a hat.
  • JoeBaronDesign

Yea, the brands that are out have very plain and bland designs. I used to print for a brand that had pretty decent designs, but they went under. It'll be good to see some good designs for a change in the fitness industry.
  • ShineOn

    Hey Dan–
These guys should be able to do a small run of hats like this.

    Hey all, quick update.

I got the first round of apparel in (2 hats and 2 shirts), and I am preparing to launch within two months.
Working to create the photography, website and a series of quick instagram promo videos. I will also be sponsoring two athletes an amateur bodybuilder and popular female powerlifter, which I am very excited about.

I really dig the fact that even if you dont lift weights, you could rock this stuff. Solid stuff.

Thanks guys..coming together slowly but surely.
Just announced our first sponsored athlete will be Krissy Mae Cagney, so I'm extremely excited about having her on board!
  • Design by Disorder

    Great job Dan!
    Looking good
  • dbdesign

Some new promo photos. Everything coming together nicely, looking to release in two weeks!

Very proud, I think it's unique and very cool, so even if it does not catch on after the release...I'm crazy fucking proud of what I've built.

The photos are dope. The only thing that caught my eye is the last photo. I love how the dude looks like he could lift a car and is only curling 10 pounds. I just love the irony. Its not a big deal and no one will probably catch it but I though i would point it out

haha thanks man! Usually people use what is referred to as "show weight" in photoshoots for fitness. Bodybuilders do not lift excessive amounts of weight like a powerlifter would. You won't see a bodybuilder in the gym curling 75lb dumbells like they do in photoshoots. The key to training is to train smart and with appropriate weights, this is actually about 35-40lbs that he is curling in the last photo, a more realistic weight for a bodybuilder doing curls. ;)

I get what you're saying, and majority of people would think the same thing, and it may have looked cooler if I had a 45lbs plate on each side...but I'd probably only get a few good photos and I don't want him getting hurt.

Putting final touches on some stuff, wrapping up product photos for the site.. 12 days out!

I never thought of it that way. You raise a good point lol

As you all know, I've been working on this brand for some time, polishing it and getting everything prepared. I officially launch this Saturday for the Mr. Olympia contest, but I pushed the site live tonight. I'm really proud of wha ti've done, so if you have a free minute give it a look and feel free to share any thoughts.

Nice work man! Have fun at the Olympia, although I feel pretty bad that Kai will not be participating this year.

Site looks clean and professional and the products seem to hit a well designed mark that most designs in this arena don't have.

I Wish I was going to Olympia, but I will be watching form my couch hoping that orders start rolling in from the site ;) Really bummed for Kai, it's just a competition for second place now, pretty lame.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.
