I finally got around to completely revamping my portfolio. For the longest time I wanted to lump clients together and make sections instead of scrolling after scrolling. I also added some commentary to certain projects / pages. There's still some work to do, like making a rejected projects page, designs for sale page, and I plan on reshooting all my album art and print packages again and adding those to the mix as well.

I also decided to sort of change the identity for the design side of my life for a few reasons.

1) In case people were turned off by the name Kyle Crawford. I've burnt some bridges and left a bad taste in people's mouth. It's cool, it happens. I took this as a way to give myself a fresh start, without completely starting over

2) I am constantlyyyyyy getting emailed from fans of the brands asking me how much so and so shirt is, and if I have them in a medium and all that jazz. So I took out EZ, and my name completely to sort of rid (hopefully) that problem

there's a lot of new work floating around. Check it out now

The layout is great, much easier to navigate in my opinion. I know it might sound corny, but i actually like you chose a picture of you smiling for your about page. It seems much more relaxed and playful then your other portfolio.
  • Cameron Latham

Definitely prefer this to your old site and I dig the new identity, but the site layout gets cut off for me when viewing the project pages:

Could be an issue with smaller resolutions (my laptop's only 1366 x 768) or a coding issue. I've had some resolution/responsiveness issues with Cargo before as well, but it should be a simple fix.
  • Kyle Crawford

Hey cam, the fix is, me resizing everything. I made the images 1200 wide. So thats your problem. I usually dont care about stuff like that, because people need to be working off of something larger than a 15 inch screen anyway

    thanks though!
  • Matt Borchert

Solid work - nice clean layout that's easy to navigate.
  • Killer Napkins

Really dig it man.. Super clean

Ah, my mistake! Should've just assumed that it wasn't an issue on your end.
  • Jman

Congratulations on the re-branding Kyle. All looks very neat and nice!
  • kyleidoscope

I really like the colour scheme and the general layout is simple and sleek. It's fresh. The way the 86 is is done isn't my favourite part though.

But isn't this a portfolio site for people to look at your work in order to hire you for your services? Might be ideal to fix it so it looks neat on all sizes. Not everyone browsing your portfolio is working on an iMac.

Looks good, super simple and clean.

Making the site responsive would solve this problem. I don't know if Kyle built it himself or if its template based or what, but he should definitely look into responsive design.

yeah i gotta agree with this. it looks odd on my 15" retina macbook pro. not everyone is working on a large display.

aww I wanted to "get 69'ed" by Kyle.
Awesome new site. It looks good on the computers I've checked it on but they are big ol displays so I dont know how it looks on something small. I especially like your About section. Nice and clean
  • miles to go

layout is so much easier to read now. i like the logos of the bands and to be able to click on a clients work a whole more. looks rad.

Wait... So people actually do have different screen resolutions than Kyle? Well, now don't I feel silly for going out and buying a whole new setup just to view the site!
  • Kyle Crawford

thats not what Im saying cameron and others. people shouldnt be designing or viewing on a macbook anyway. you should always have a screen. at least thats my thoughts. default images for me have usually be 1100 wide.
no need to be weird about it. so what you have to scroll. if youre too lazy to scroll and look at my work and youre thinking about hiring me, then I dont want to work for you if youre going to complain about some scrolling. seems stupid

it has nothing to do with the scrolling, it has to do with how it looks. on smaller screens it looks like a mistake, and looks bad.

i'm not complaining, i don't care what your site looks like, it's your site. just something we're noticing and suggesting, that's all. if you don't see it as an issue, that's cool.
  • Perception Apparel

Really Like the branding and site. I think the 86 logo is top notch and my favorite
  • ShineOn

Killer work as always. Dig that you separated your personal portfolio from the brand.

I'm on a 15" macbook at work (with an external screen) but I checked out the site at home and looked perfect. I see what everyone is saying as the norm is typically all content within 990px (in my opinion I don't think the extra 110px would be worth causing a scrolling error / not displaying your site properly for a fair amount of users but that's just me).

Either way, it all looks great. Didn't know it was you that did that new Blink logo, that's huge.
  • Cutty.

    Lookin slick.

This. I wasn't trying to come at you or "be weird"; just making light of what I find to be a ridiculous discussion. Just noticed it and figured you may want to know how it looks to others. Carry on.

I was going to email you, but fuck it, I'll go ahead and call you out on here...

    why I don't like you....

In all honesty, it starts with your shitty fucking nastiness towards elyse, the red headed model from back in the day with EZ. She's actually one of my friends and it bugged the shit out of me how you'd always talk about how hot shes was, and just being kind of gross and talk about banging her, you'd also talk about having a girlfriend who you had to buy a vibrator for because you weren't enough for her. Yes, you literally said that, might have been a joke, but whatever. You've said numerous other inappropriate things, I can't remember them now, just that one stuck out to me, and finally crossed the line. I don't like that kind of shit. You're disrespectful to me, and disrespectful to elyse, and most of all, your EX girlfriend.

I also don't give a shit if he gets pissed at me, because he's actually one of my good friends (the few I have, yay make fun of me) and I know he will understand. But I got sick and tired of (back then, not so much now, or the past 3 years. Which makes me wonder, do you even design anymore? don't answer, don't care.) of you jocking the fuck out of me and my style and having a MUTUAL friend, stated above, always showing me shit and saying something along the lines (I cant say it was EXACT, so I'll stick with along the lines) can this look anymore like Kyle?

Why don't I like you? You're constant ribbing and joking like were friends, like you know me or something. Joking around about me playing the drums, not once, but a few occasions. My grammar and run on sentences, etc etc. You talking like were buddy buddy. In fact, I don't think we've ever had a conversation outside of me calling you talentless.

And yea, I've burned some bridges, everyone has, I even burnt a bridge with our last night, which, actually thank you for telling me about them talking shit, thus me calling them out and supposedly almost getting you thrown off the tour.

I've got nothing left to say to you. I hope the feeling is mutual and you just back the fuck off and crawl back into whatever fucking weirdo, creeper, hole you came from.
  • Denimous Snake

Anybody else like angry Kyle more than not angry Kyle? One day he'll rip into me, and I'm sure I'll hate him then. But we're mostly on the same page. I don't know, I love the bluntness.

Nah, I definitely have butted heads with Kyle before. I've even told him I'm not a fan of his art / brand (Electric Zombie). Just respect the dude's work ethic & attitude. I don't even LIKE not angry Kyle. Just respect him.

(Finally got to your portfolio, as I'm 50% sure I'm using a texture of yours to this day, and your work for White Rabbit, RULES.)

Fair enough. He is definitely a hard grafter and a great designer... just saying I don't endorse any bad attitudes regardless of who it is so I wouldn't agree with anyone trying to fuel any negativity from him. If he gets pissed at something and says it then that's his choice but he doesn't need people egging him on and encouraging him to be like that all the time. It isn't healthy for him or anyone else to harbour that level of negativity. Personally I like Kyle the most when he's in positive mode and talking about something he's passionate about in a positive way, or at least when he is talking about something negative but in an insightful manner.

Dig the layout. Really easy to check everything out. The about section is cool to, always like seeing stuff people are into. The picture of the pizza, toys etc is awesome.
  • itcamefromthesky

You know what I like about you, Kyle? You're dependable. One line from me and you meltdown into several paragraphs of poorly written fabrications.

So what's Elyse up to now? I started a website for her.

    www.get69d.com
  • Kyle Crawford

That's cool Alan. You better hope you never really ever get to see a meltdown, for your sake.
  • itcamefromthesky

You realize there's literally nothing intimidating about you, right? Comments like that don't quite have the effect that you intend for them to.

Also, "never really ever"? Dude, holy shit. Arguing with you makes me feel bad, like I'm picking on a kid with Down syndrome or something.

We should do a podcast together.
