Hi mintees we are working on renovating this old red barn into artist studio spaces. Its a big project to undertake but hopefully the kickstarter will come through for us.

Heres a little logo I did up and was looking for critiques or
comments. This will eventually be printed on stickers and shirts!
I was hoping for a homegrown sort of organic print look

Get a woodblock or linocut kit for the best effect. Best of luck!

i still dont think its very interesting, looks like a cheap restaurant rather than artists spaces.

you have a base for an idea with the pizza hut roof thing, so no explore loads of variations of it.

it literally looks like the first idea you had with it. the more you play and have fun (and get off the computer) the more interesting and unique the logo will turn out. you dont want it to be bland right?
  • Anthony Smith

Im not really digging these new computery ones. Sure, they are a bit better on a technical level, but boring as hell. And all remind me of pizza hut.

Back to the more hand rendered thing, Olly Moss nailed a similar concept a while back

    food for thought

dont know why - i have the pizza hut logo in mind when looking at your version. it still looks pretty rushed and i have no clue what the logo could stand for if i see it without explanation.

    That's a great example.

    Maybe hire someone else.

    Beautiful.

    Thanks for the words all

    Here are a few sketches

    Heres another idea

  • Ellis

I think you're missing the point of the sketches. It's not just to show a one off of a bunch of different ideas. It's about making a couple dozen totally different ideas/concepts and then picking 2 or 3 that really stand out and improving them. Once you have improved on those 2 or 3, you then pick the 1 that reallllly stands out and captures everything you want it to represent. And then you go to the computer.

You're moving to quickly back to the digital side of things and none of your ideas are translating. You actually have one or two pretty decent ideas in the sketches, but then in the digital version, it just looks like a birthday cake made out of letters. Also, consider ditching that font.
  • Dr_Worm

Yeah that digital one wasn't based off the sketches, I just had it and decided to post it.

    which sketch did you like?
  • Craig Robson

i think you need to hire someone. this name and barn idea has so much potential. i understand budget might be squeezed but in the end you are looking to make some money, so polish this shit up at the beginning.
  • Dr_Worm

Here's the screen printed version, I like the result a lot, glad I did this and will do it again.
  • atomicchild

I am just gonna say it.

Higher someone to make one or just pay Bleet for one of his.
  • Dr_Worm

I dono a lot of effort went into this, we kind of like how it works with the feel of the barn. Hand made, relaxed, but ready to go to work. Working on no budget makes things harder too. We are launching an ingiegogo sooner than later, maybe that will fund some different art. But until then this is what we are going to use.

It's a triangle and font with an outline.

the first sketch (top left). If you're really stuck on going with the hand drawn feel, I'd work on that one a bit more, it's one of the only appealing options you've presented so far.

True, I didn't get that specific idea off the bat though..

Kevinsylvia: Thanks man, I definitelly might push that idea some more
