Ya I think that's the biggest problem here. Emptees era still the best, hope Mintees can reach it too someday. :')

Yeah...hopefully someday :)

This is the queue at the moment:
It's rarely ever backed up more than two rows. I vote at least once a day, if possible. It used to take four votes up or down to push a submission, but now it's only two. That said, more voters aren't the solution.
Mintees was already losing active users to Instagram, Facebook groups, etc. The server crash a few months ago put the final nail in the coffin, in my opinion. Every year, despite the dwindling community, Drawlloween would bring people back in for a month at least. However, this year, even that couldn't do it. Sucks, but that's the reality.
There's nowhere like Mintees, save for a couple niche Facebook groups, but those tend to just be circle jerks for a few artists.

Some friends suggest to make a donate here. Personally I agree with that, maybe it can help this site more better. I mean about the system, UI, etc. Actually until now, Mintees still give me opportunity to find a good client, so I just don't want this site really die.

It's because all of the designers/illustrators who kept these sites going and active have moved on, and looks like the new wave isn't as social or as tightly-knit. Was different then, than it is now.

who knows?

moved where? what site is people using now to sell/buy designs?
MrSnake said about 2 years ago
Pretty sure Instagram and perhaps dribbble. Here an artists gets 1-5 likes. On IG an artist post gets 100s or 1000s likes, comments and gets exposed to a lot of other people through the "you might like" section.

but where are the people with small clothing brands, unsigned bands, etc... searching for designs now? Ok, mintees is not so active as it was, but all those "design buyers" have to be somewhere...
MrSnake said about 2 years ago
Are you on IG? I own a small brand and now I find artists through IG. I rarely buy pre-made designs anymore but I see artists selling theirs all the time.
I dunno, maybe there's another site that I haven't heard about but that's my experience.

Some new artists will be happy if they saw their design at a front page,to attract more users..both artists and buyers.
Maybe...?who knows

Facebook groups are the thing now, but they're all half egos and half ultra-noobs with a few decent folks sprinkled in... So a lot like the old Emptees/Mintees actually. It's unfortunate what happened to the site, but the big guns grew out of their need to post and everyone else moved on to Instagram. I don't know if there'll ever be another site like Mintees.

Probably not. The internet isn't the same thing as it was 10 years ago, for better or worse. I could see a curated Slack group doing well, but you'd have to very actively manage it.

Exactly this. Mintees still bring in some clients for me too. Mintees ain't that dead yet :)

It sucks... because I too get most of my designs sold through mintees. So imagine if the site was as active as it used to be... Sucks too that there isn't an alternative to mintees. Foalio never took off and closed, bandjob closed... I tried Instagram as someone suggested but I hasn't worked for me yet.
The only other place where I've had mild success is reddit... Sold some designs through there but as for getting some freelance gigs is a real bad place... you get the most ridiculous requests and people want to pay almost nothing.
I know the internet has changed a lot in all these years. I guess people don't navigate through websites and everything today are apps and mobiles. But to some extent people still come here to buy designs. The 'designs for sales' threads are the proof. People send me screen captures of the designs displayed on those threads when asking for prices. That means people don't go to the 'tees' section of the site.
It's ridiculous that mintees hasn't changed in more than ten years... we still have the same site as when it was called emptees. The 'tees' section don't work, thumbnails are too small, rectangle format for images is stupid: it should be a big square and be able to post various images (mock up, designs, alternate colors), foalio did it that way. Community selected needs to go! Big guns left the site, but the rest that still come here have to eat how they shaped it. Let active users say how they want mintees to be!!

I stopped posting since I don't get in community selected section and my "likes" doesn't show up. it's been like this since the beginning. Also there's this bug that doesn't let me upload stuff from time to time. IDK. I still lurk here once every two weeks. check the the new TOTDS and talk section. And I still get emails from time to time from clients who visit here.
Emptees days was fun. The only rule was it has to be on a tee. Every minute somebody uploads a new design.
TOTD was all the rave. TOTM was like new year and TOTY was party of the century. Everybody hated the indos and kyle. HAHA. We had a crazy community and it brought business
Moving on to mintees. The community selected tees took out majority of the population. The new guys stopped trying and the good ones lost audience. Now, we still see designs from two weeks ago in the first page.
Are the moderators still interested in running this place? We can talk about how to fix this site and we get a quote from devs. We pool in money and invite people back.
So yeah, this place is dying. We could at least try something to bring this back up.

hah, brings back a load of memories.. back when i joined emptees back in 2007, this place was wild. times when you could sell a good design in less than a day. i remember getting an email from a dude called oliver sykes wanting to buy a design from the page and i had to google that name first. these times are gone forever. but i see why the only section that is filled frequently are the "designs for sale" threads in the talk-section.
Cameron Latham said about 1 year ago
Honestly, I don't blame them for being uninterested. It's just become a place for randos to peddle their designs with broken English placement text every month in the Designs For Sale thread. There's no community feeling anymore. The people that made Mintees/Emptees cool sites to hang out have moved on. Sorry to sound cynical, but I feel like a new __tees site would go the way of Foalio or Bandjob.
That said, I think it would need to be more along the lines of Bandjob. Catering not just to the merch industry, but the entire music art industry. Any of the other art/design focused sites are pretty wack. Dribbble and Behance suck for folks like us. I liked seeing tons of sick new art of all kinds (tees, logos, album art) every day. I guess you can do that via Instagram, but IG's not much for discovery and feels more self-promotional than an actual community.
I'm kind of just babbling at this point, but you feel me.
TL;DR - Yo Black Axe dudes, bring dat Bandjob back.
