What is there to even say? I've spent the majority of the past 5 months working harder than I ever have on this fall collection. I am incredibly curious to see what you awesome lovelies think of the release. Tons of emotion accompanied by tons of long nights staring up at the stars. I want you all to know that I'm not trying to sell you a cool design, comfy t-shirt, or anything materialistic. This is about the attempt to progress your consciousness through something as simple as an inspirational canvas you can wear around and be proud of.

I'd like to give credit to everyone who contributed a little or a lot to this line: Tony Graystone, Colin Gauntlett, Andrew Haines, Paul Granese, Nils Vogeding, Zeb Love, Edgar McHerly, Kyle Crawford, Greg Kerr and MerchNOW; for all being rad people who I can't wait to work with again.

I cooked up 33 items this time around. Here is a sample of 10 items. You can view the rest at http://www.vfclothing.com and follow progress via facebook at http://www.facebook.com/venusfallen

Total is:

18 shirts
2 zip-ups
2 pullover hoodies
2 long sleeve t-shirts
2 baseball raglans
2 wallets
2 custom button bags w/ 5 buttons each
2 belts
1 pullover sweater

Thank you all so much for your time.

Awesome! love the buttons and wallets!

PS: I think an accessories/misc tab on the store navigation would be nice.

WOW! What an awesome release! Hard work is paying off! Congrats Matt!
  • Skull With Hair

well done for sure, just cannot really pinpoint what the brand is about. It clearly relates to science in some way so that means you hate jesus, as i do, and i might buy a shirt for that reason alone. Still seems a little vague though who your target market is from the outside looking in. so my only critique would be to maybe find ways to make that more clear to people coming across your stuff for the first time.

keep it up though, curious to see where you take this in the future.

Thanks, everyone! Definitely worked my tail off.

Much love, dude. You really can't tell what the brand is about? Just curious; did you go to the site? I think it's pretty damn evident, haha. I like creating pieces for a decent range of preferences within my concept; maybe that's throwing you off? Also, to answer your question; yes, so much yes.

Also, if anyone else agrees with SWH about any confused identity; I'll be shocked but please let me know. I'm not sure I could potentially inject any more love for science/space into my branding, haha. Let me know either way.

Fuck that cat wallet is amazing.

Personally I think the logo tee and the Intergalactic Treasure Hunter sweater look out of place. Both have a Johnny Cupcakes feel to it, geared to a younger audience opposed to the rest that is geared to an older audience. In that sense I agree with swh with your line having an identity crisis. I know you have come a long way so kudos to that and keep it up.

I just do whatever the hell I want, haha. I understand being cohesive and blah blah blah, but my numbers prove that my fan base is one that enjoys science but have various different preferences when buying designs. I neither want to cater to just a mature audience nor do I want to cater to just a less mature audience. I attempt to exist in the balance. I do this because I absolutely love creating my concepts and I choose whichever artist I think will do the concept justice; no matter the style. I hope that makes sense. I completely respect that opinion but I do feel that you're intelligent enough (obviously) to understand that my strategy focuses on a general target market and then breaks it down into more defined targets. It'd be unbelievably easy for me to keep my line cohesive; I think anybody can do that. I'm just more concerned with having fun. Much love and thanks for your comment!

Congrats on the release Matty! I agree with Skull in terms of understanding the brand though. Yesterday when I was on the site, I tried to find out more but the vision section of the site really confused me.
  • Lmerrill

I don't see the confusion, Matt. What's there to be confused about? It's awesome stuff for nerds. The cool kids just don't understand, but are welcome to join us in some D&D tonight.

Thanks, David! The "About" section would have helped you more. What confused you about the vision section? It's a blog dedicated to pushing the visionary side of my brand. I'm getting more confused on how you folks aren't understanding what I'm all about. I truly feel that I display that pretty vividly, haha. Anyways, thank you!

Thanks, dude! That's exactly right. Gear for nerds of all style preferences and tastes. I'm still not quite sure how people aren't seeing that from the site but that's okay. I'm not trying to target one specific taste because I don't think that's fair for a brand that believes in a unified/adaptable species.

Yeah I did hit up the about section and that helped yesterday!

I was still confused, however, as to what the vision section was.

I'll add in and say from an outsider looking in I would think it is an outer space themed brand. I wouldn't automatically think that makes you a nerdy brand though. And because of the "Bands" section I'm assuming you are geared towards kids that go to shows like Warped Tour and whatnot.

Thanks for the input. I think it's pretty safe to say society denotes fans of outer space and science as being "nerdy." Also, I'm 100% not a warped tour brand. The bands page is there because I have good friends in those bands that push a similar vision with their own music so it's just a few more fun relationships I have. I'm in no way concerned with targeting individuals who attend those types of music festivals; just want to make that clear, haha.
  • Bedlam77

release looks good, kept up with your brand since it started and dont feel its changed much except a little more spaced themed this release, but i took that as a cohesive themed release over all with this series. congrats
  • MSTRMIND

those wallets a really cool man, nice job!
  • Cutty.

Everything looks so great! A lot of different illustration styles, but I think the theme couldn't be more comprehensive (which I personally like). I think the "details" on each design do a good job summing up the inspiration and how it relates to your brand. The only thing I could see being a little confusing to some people on the website is why "vision" and "blog" are two separate sections, but I don't really think its a big deal. Anyway, you've come a long way, love everything in this series!

Yeah but your model has tattoos, society says that makes him cool right? ha

And I'm probably just in the minority that thinks that. Anytime I still see a brand with a "bands/family" section I just assume they are marketing towards that crowd. Makes sense though, the brand does seem a bit mature for that demo

I don't really see where the confusion is. Nice stuff, Matt.

I almost missed the obama reference, sneaky.

It's actually a political parody and I used that symbol because it's on his original poster. That logo is in no way support of Obama's campaign. It's actually just the opposite. It is a parody that denotes this brand's love for scientific exploration, which I feel trumps politics and corruption. I loathe politics.

Yeah I wasn't calling you out for supporting it, my brain was just excited to see the reference to the poster.

In any case I totally agree, it's nuts how much we spend to blow shit up, and how little we spend to explore our futures.

Matt, as I said the other day, I think a few people might have gotten the "someone big critiqued, now I feel the same way" syndrome as around here is known for. Overall, I don't see how its confusing, great stuff, awesome to be apart of and really fun concepts. So excited!!!
