10/10/12 - Known issues we're working on: Tag viewing is all messed up

We're now offering a way for you to get your tee hundreds of thousands of additional views from the community. Mintees tee designers will now notice little blue flags or buttons around the site when you're logged in and viewing a tee you've posted.

Currently, the price to promote your tee is $7 for 7 days.

Your tee is highlighted green (instead of the normal gray) and randomly placed on the first page of each of our Tees listings. You can schedule your Promoted Tee to start whenever you'd like and it will run for 7 full days.

What will a Promoted Tee look like?

Examples of buttons you'll see on your own tees:

What do I get?

Your tee will be highlighted and displayed on the first Tees page for seven full days.

Cool ways to utilize this feature:

  1. Increase physical tee sales

  2. Promote the sale of the t-shirt design

  3. Get more feedback on your design

  4. Drive more traffic to your profile
  • SteveOramA

definitely a nice addition to boost sales.
    keep up the great features!
  • junostudio

Very nice! I'm sure this nifty feature will come in handy for brands and competition winners.
  • Craig Robson

cool, gonna be good for brand owners and artists alike.
  • Sam Weinberg

Great idea. What about promoted threads for announcing new releases, sales, and more?

Edit: just realized they already exist for mod announcements.

    one question Mr.Jared :)
I have some worst design and I would like to use this service, is my design still featured on the Community Selected at the first page?

I don't know exactly what you're asking, but I wouldn't recommend promoting your worst tee :\

Promoted Tees show up on the first page of both Community Selected Tees and All Tees sections in a random location, highlighted in green for a period of 7 days each.

Thank you for answering, I understand what you saying :)

I can appreciate the new feature but I don't like that people who are looking at my profile/page with my designs can see the "promoted tees." I think it's confusing (as it was for me when I first noticed it) and I don't want people to think that I designed those t-shirts.

same here man, I found a stranger design on my page... I don't know if it's bug or not,

I don't know if this is just a terrible idea on my part... but just thinking it might be cool to have a Facebook pages plug in like big cartel do for our mintees profiles. do you know what i mean? That might suck but thought I'd put it out there because I'd use it
  • Cameron Latham

I agree with Sam. I think adding the ability to promote threads (for a fee, of course) for non-mod members would be a solid idea as well.

Yeah, it's a cool idea we've been toying with, BUT it's hard to fine real estate for it. It can't be like a Sticky in the forum, it would have to be worked into the sidebar, like a Google ad but better looking. Like a Facebook ad without an image or something.

True. Maybe they could be put in between stickies and regular threads standing out from both somehow. Not sure how though since stickies are already highlighted green. Just thinkin' out loud.
  • Anthony Smith

Those green little shits like to dance around the front page, dont they? Nice idea though

Do the thumbnails have to be so unusably tiny, this is a visual site after all.

Not sure what you're talking about, Promoted Tees display the same size as regular tee thumbnails.

We are seriously considering this, how many people are actually interested?

It would be a small bar displayed between the 2nd and 3rd post on the page and tastefully fade in/out every few seconds if there is more than one Promoted Post active.
  • Matt Borchert

I guess my standpoint is that if you make a post with solid content that people care about, it will stick near the top of the page because people will be continuously be adding to it.

I think that when older threads die out and move downwards, there is typically a reason. I do see certain benefits to this...but at the same time I think it would add a bit more clutter.
  • HarryDiaz

Is there a cap on the promoted tees on the front page?
  • jared

HarryDiaz said:Is there a cap on the promoted tees on the front page?

It shows a rotation of 5 per page load. They are shuffled at random.

Yeah, the primary purpose would be to offer a way for people to always be shown even if they aren't the most interesting topic. Promoted tees right now are a great example. I don't think any of these were Community Selected and they're reaching "Like" levels they most likely would never reach, so the concept works.

I think we have a great way to implement this for Talk by taking up less than a 50 pixel tall row across, once on the page.

Nah I definitely think it's a great idea for people to get exposure for stuff that matters to them at a cost that is far below adwords advertising, as well as it bringing a bit of fiscal support to keep mintees up and running.

I just like wracking my brain around UI/UX and what option makes the most sense / is most impactful. I'm a nerd like that.

But cool changes so far Jared!

This is what we were thinking. It would slowly fade between Promoted Posts, like a news ticker, every 5 seconds or so. If this looks weird to you it's because I have admin tools you never see. Also it's hacked up in photoshop, so you can also ignore the weird spacing on the right by the banner.

whether the promote tee replace the other design ?
because my design is missing on the first page and i can found it on second page,

If your tee was going to display on page 1 normally, and you decide to run a promoted tee, the Promoted Tee will replace it in all Tees listings.

So, when does the Promotion End :)
  • Lmerrill

Didn't know where else to post this, but I wanted to make it aware that I'm still having to log back in every time I visit.

Currently, promoted tees last for seven days, beginning on the day you pay for it.

This would normally belong in the bug thread.

We're still looking into this issue, hang tight. We haven't forgotten ;)
  • atomicchild

I think this was a good idea....but now that it has been in uses for awhile.....to me it makes the whole tee section one big mess.....tees load up different at different times....then once they load they change cause the promoted tees pop up....tees seem to get buried faster....I don't if I am the only one but it seems to be way more messy than it was before
  • atomicchild

I think that you took something that was clean and organized and now it is just a train wreck

It sounds like the primary frustration you're facing is with the tee thumbs shuffling around.

There was a bug (fix released today) where ones went missing, but now if a promoted tee is injected it bumps everything forward one space. I am toying with the idea of keeping the promoted tees in fixed places instead of shuffling them around. We could, however, continue shuffling the promoted tees within those green boxes to give everyone a fair amount of views.

It's been about a week and we've seen an incredible amount of interest.

Technically, nothing gets buried faster because we're showing 5 additional tees. The average "Community Selected" tee lasts 2-3 days on the first page (varies based on submissions and approvals, so don't dig around to prove me wrong or anything). Even if they were getting buried faster, I'd sooner consider adding another 5 to the page altogether, keeping the count of non-promoted tees the same.

We always appreciate input, so thank you!
  • Craig Robson

i dont think it would be so bad if the promoted shirts stayed at the top and shuffled amongst themselves, leaving the rest of the submissions ordered neatly. i find it really confusing keeping up with the submissions, i like checking back to see whats new and its difficult to remember whats new and whats just been re-ordered.
  • jared

Rob was initially against this (I was, kind of, too) but only out of fear of backlash from the community.

What do you think or row 2 on page 1 being set aside for 5 promoted tees? We could even do a sweet container box going all the way across instead of individual boxes (maybe)?
  • Craig Robson

but what if 7 people choose to promote? i think all of them could stack up at the top, if you keep them green then people know where to skip to with the newest submissions.
  • jared

No, no, no you're not understanding.

We only show 5 promoted tee spots on the current site. We randomly distribute the displays in those spots. That wouldn't change, only the placement OF the spots. Capiche?
  • Craig Robson

ah i getcha! i thought there were unlimited spots. capiche indeed.
