As you may have noticed, the Tees page has a new grouping method.

- Community Selected Tees
- All Tees

Our Goal

This community is great, but we want it to grow exponentially. To do so, we needed to find a way to make it more inclusive. This is a place for aspiring designers to learn just as much as it is a design showcase for professionals. After careful deliberation, we came up with a solution that we believe solves the needs of up-and-coming designers as well as our old school members. It's the best of both worlds!

What does this mean for you?

- Nobody's is rejected from the site (Mods and admins can still remove heinous monstrosities, duplicates etc.)
- Mintees will get more users and content.
- The community will grow much stronger over time.
- Your profile will show Community Selected tees and All tees in separate groups.

Things you should know before you freak out (mostly talking to my seasoned community members):

- The quality of the site's home page will not change. Same approval process to be Community Selected.
- Same quality of the site's TOTD, TOTM, TOTY tees, only Community Selected tees are in the running.
- If you don't want to look at tees outside of Community Selected, you don't have to!

How has the processed changed?

From our Post a Tee page: Your t-shirt design will be posted to your Mintees profile immediately. Next, a group of experienced community members and moderators will decide if your design will be added to our Community Selected gallery. Community Selected Tees are eligible for placement on our curated home page.

Also, thanks to Adhesive Hippo and Rob, we've got a sweet new PSD Mintees Mockup template if you need one.

Yeah, Great news! Awesome! Love the new feature! :D
  • Sushilove

    Finally!
This is how I want mintees to be.
  • atomicchild

this is cool....good solution to the rejection posts and we do need a shot of juice around here as far as numbers.

    HI5
  • Sushilove

btw, all previous t-shirts in profiles are in the community selected shirts even if they were previously submitted in the old 'critiques' section.
don't know if that's a bug or what.

    Good catch, we're on it!

Something went wrong with the approval system?

Nah dawg, I think someone actually approved that one. Whether it was an accident or not, I have no idea. But new tees that aren't approved don't go into Community Selected. Let me know if you catch any others.
  • RyanDevine

This is an amazing replacement / compromise to the rejection system
  • 8-bit ZOMBIE

Awesome. This place could definitely use a boost in members and participation, good idea guys.

Hahah, I saw that too. Had an Emptees flashback for a sec.
  • Keenankoso

So are submitted tees automatically placed in "All tees" section and then later moved to "Community Selected" if approved?

There is no way that anyone would purposefully approve that.

Aside from no "rejection" e-mail, I don't see how the "all tees" section will get any more attention or interaction from the community than the critiques section did.

I think the idea is that it won't turn all of those "rejected" artists away from Mintees any more. Not sure if the new section will get any more attention from people or not but hopefully more people will stick around and get involved now.

Is there any form of notification regarding the "community selected" tees process...ie if it was voted in or voted out? It would definitely be nice to know that it wasn't in some sort of digital limbo.

When its approved is it removed from 'all tees' or is it shared between both categories?

With this new feature and the addition of the jobs section, you guys may want to consider updating the design. This is looking a little bit cluttered:

This is awesome, should be a serious morale boost!
  • CMYKBRAD

Nice idea guys. Think this will turn out well and get a lot more talent noticed.
  • Who is Ryan C.

    Nice
  • another fine tee

    Great idea, fellas!

I think the "All Tees" section will get attention from the community. The "Community Selected" section is still a subjective process, which is fine, so there might be things in the "All" section that may not make the cut, but that's not to say some members won't like it, right?

For example, our best seller on the site was rejected from here. People liked it, but it didn't fit the vibe or style here.

can i kill that garbage can one? pretty please?

Unless the mock is messed up or blurry, I seriously don't know why you would. It's on the user's profile and only accessible if you choose to view All Tees. I really think you should leave it.

I know it will be somewhat of a... transition of thinking... to leave it, but it's like someone's personal portfolio. Let them do their thang!

sounds good. whats the criteria for blasting things? offensive, blurry or no t-shirt?
  • jared

Craig Robson said:sounds good. whats the criteria for blasting things? offensive, blurry or no t-shirt?

You and Rob can adapt as time goes on, but I think the bullet points on the Post a Tee page best describe our initial approach. If any of these are the case, blast 'em.

    - By uploading this image, you certify you have the right to do so
    - Don't upload obscene, offensive or hateful material
    - Don't submit a design more than once
    - Blurry, incomplete or heinous mocks will be deleted
  • Craig Robson

so, if ive got this right, a shirt gets submitted and it goes right through to the all shirts bit, then mods can still see the up and down vote hands? upvoting sends it through to the curated page, downvoting does.....?

right now i can only see three shirts with voting options, they also appear in the "approve" tab.

Any shirt submitted goes into All Tees by default.

If it's approved (by admin/mods/voting) it gets put into Community Selected.

If it's not approve d(by admins/mods/voting) it stays in All Tees.

If it's deleted by an admin/mod, it dies.
  • Craig Robson

will you be removing the down vote hand?
  • jared

Craig Robson said:will you be removing the down vote hand?

I get what you're saying, but no. I'd rather track the votes and use the same logic anyways. I think you'll find that there are just as many "borderline" approvals and the downvotes count just as much as the upvotes for those tees. Keeping the down vote is important, at the very least, for you as a mod/admin to quickly say "no voting, this thing isn't making the cut."

    capiche?

    Sorry, missed this question.

You definitely receive an email if you're voted into Community Selected! If you don't, we aren't issuing email notifications.

this is really great to see this community growing. also look forward to a forum with less attitude from people who felt jaded by the whole mod tee thing. funny how just changing what pages are called can solve so many dilemmas.
