I manage a blog-styled website and I'm looking for more methods to increase traffic as our numbers are low right now. I've been submitting pages to StumbleUpon and it brings in a little traffic, but I'm considering to expand the way I use StumbleUpon by adding friends and what not.

I'm also thinking about starting to use Digg, but I don't think my websites content would do too great on there.

Does anyone around here use either of these for entertainment or business purposes?

I was a stumbleupon user for a solid year, and i like the randomness of stumbling, but I've started Reddit recently, and don't think I'll be looking back.

Digg is just a sad, sad website compared to Reddit...I don't think you'll be finding any value there. I haven't used it myself, but I've heard great things about StumpleUpon's paid discovery platform. Using StumbleUpon alone, I managed to get about 2,000 hits on an article in less than 2 hours. I guess it depends on what content you're delivering and who you're delivering it to.

I've had a very similar experience also. Not every piece of content gets the same success though, so it really varies.

Yeah a friend of mine still uses StumbleUpon and he has generated over +1000 followers within a month. But it was not StumbleUpon itself that did it but the combination of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and how effective you utilize these. Obviously no news but yeah, social media has a big influence on seo nowadays. And what Sam said, results may vary, depending on what type of content it is that you deliver and so on.
