I got an invite yesterday and I'm loving it. Really hoping it catches on. Very awesome.

Haven't quite figured out how the invites work. There was a button saying invite people but it's gone now. I was going to try and do an Astrobot giveaway contest thing for invites but not really sure whats going on with it. Rather I am doing that, but not sure how to invite people now haha.

Anyway, imo its pretty awesome.

    it looks just like facebook

True that, any difference between plus and facebook so far? I'm really curious, google has a tendency to make everything better.
  • RustyEight

Well apparently putting people into groups is a lot easier, and it supports video chat. The focus is really group oriented they say.
  • Anthony Smith

Ive literally just got onto it.

so far, all i can really tell is it has potential. with only one person i know whos on it, not exactly feeling the social networking side to it haha.

The hangout section, which seems to be a massive video chatroom for you and your friends, could be awesome.

Oh, and the facebook 'liking' system is used on website pages etc, which could be great too.
  • Astrobot

the core part is putting people in circles which facebook tacked on later so the functionality isnt very intuitive. on + its the whole point. Drag and drop people to circles and then more importantly when you share something its super easy to select which circle you want to share with. adding photos is pretty awesome. more drag and drop.
the hangout area will rule when you're friends are on it.
the way it pushes stories to you is going to be really cool.

The way it all ties into other stuff you do is the kicker.

it is visually similar to facebook. I'm frankly very tired of facebook. I hardly use it at all. in fact a few of my friends created a closed group where we post stupid stuff all day. before we did that, i was checking FB only when i'd get alerts. +'s focus is using it exactly how a few of my friends are using the protected group we started. i think its a great idea.

if people get on it, i will definitely be using it more than facebook.

Is any of it like oldschool myspace at all? I think what needs to happen is a perfect mixture of myspace and facebook.

    Yeah, me neither.

This comment goes double for orkut. And triple for buzz! Google's unlimited and unbound potential has never, nor will ever extend to social media.

Remember Google Maps? And Google Mail?

Facebook is honestly really buggy and slow, the chat is quite annoying. Also, their issues with privacy never seem to stay out of the news for long. I think a powerhouse like Google could certainly give Facebook competition, they just need to somehow gather a fanbase. It won't happen overnight, but I think it's certainly possible.

Im pretty sure the invites are shut down at the moment. the way people have been invited (or at least how i was) is through a loophole of some description.

Soon as i find out what you have to do, ill try inviting some of you.

Oh, and i agree with adhesive. the way they are implementing their own liking system throughout the internet, and the way that runs through your profile tells me that this thing could definitely be the next social networking site.

or at least i hope it is, facebook is reallly pissing me off.
  • HillmanB

I would love an invite! hello@hillmanball.com

I am not at all a big-brother fearing type of person, but I am already worried about how much Google is intertwined in my personal and business affairs. It is a little scary that my email, phone, calendar, contact list, and many documents are essentially controlled by 1 company

I just heard about this while searching for Facebook news, guess I was way too slow on the invites. My email address is in my profile though if anybody is able to.
  • Patrick

For all the bugs that facebook has, it's piss easy to use and i don't really like the idea of having to put shit in circles or get even more requests in google+ to join spam circles and what not. I don't see it taking over facebook unless facebook slacks in the same way myspace did, especially when the older generations of facebook users are only just really getting the hang of it.
