stoked, black ops wasn't doing it for me.
  • Divine Beast

    Looks rad.
    More excited for Battlefield though
  • AbilityFightWear

Hmm, I am more of a multiplayer guy so I hope they did a good job with it but that video is sick.
  • MattisGentle

I can't wait for this, it's going to be absolutely amazing to say the least!!
  • choppre

yup hopefully online play has as much or better weapons than Black Ops
  • Fresh Dough

This looks pretty damn cool. Looking forward to seeing how the online gameplay is.
  • atomicchild

    battlefield 3 looks way better
  • EricAbstruse

I was a boss on MW2 but never got into Black Ops. I'll of course have to check this out
  • Dr_Worm

    shit this looks intense
  • againstbound

I bet my balls it's gonna be more of the same with a few tweaks here and there; cause that's how they do it, and as long as people keep paying $60 a year for what's basically a patch that's how they'll keep doing it.
  • Smiths Canvas

Way overrated. BF deserves the glory.
  • xul1349

    can not match this:
  • FILTHWORKS

    battlefield 3 ftw!

done with cod every year same ol garbage
  • Lmerrill

MW3 is just using the same engine, unmodified, from MW2, so I expect it to be very much the same, except a few tweaks to multiplayer. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I LOVED mw2, but at this point they should be pushing the envelope with these systems more and more, and I'm not seeing it with MW3. Battlefield looks much more promising as far as action + graphics go, the gameplay itself, we'll have to just wait and see.

When COD is consistently the biggest selling game each year, you don't need a new engine or drastic updates. Sure, theres people that are getting tired of the minimal updates, but thats such a small minority that Activision doesn't care.

I understand completely. Their intention is to sell games. I was just speaking about my personal opinion of what the preview showed me.

    Lets be real here...
This game is really nothing more than a new map pack to most people who are going to buy it.

I know very few people who have ever actually played through a COD single player campaign
  • A.Merkison

The series died with Zampella and West. When they(and essentially the only team that ever produced a good Call of Duty game, Infinity Ward) got terminated, the series went duller than a rusted butter knife.

the CoD series will never die so long as the rampant 15 year olds who are struggling to go through puberty are around, but a bigger majority of the older/more mature gamers have already migrated[back] to Battlefield and Medal of Honor. BF3 is going to be a kick back to BF2 and leave behind the whole bad Company mishap(that was only bad because they mismanaged the content release and strung players out, not expecting BF:BC2 to be a hit so quickly) behind. Medal of Honor, in my opinion, was a refreshing breath of fresh air that brought back the roots of multi-player FPS's. It god rid of the perks systems that have gone way overboard, and went back to recoil and damage accuracy. Their next in line won't be for another year or 2 though, unfortunately. If BF can deliver the same play as BF2(they're even bringing back some revamped versions of maps from the history of the series, based on what the players wanted revamped in the new Frostbite 2 engine), then you'll be looking at a legitimate rival to what CoD has recently become. Does that mean it'll outsell CoD? No, but it does mean CoD will probably see less game-time logged, even if nominally less, then the last few entries.
  • Anthony Smith

I was impressed by the trailer until i saw the BF3 vid. Holy fuck!
  • Chaddoesdesign

Stoked on it! Pre-ordered it last friday.
  • Obscure

Holy crap the way the WW3 turns around to make MW3 is genius.

Also the game looks amazing cant wait!
  • CHAZZYVH

I'll most likely end up buying both but the one with the best multiplayer will be my game of choice.
  • sockmonkee

Same here. I'm thinking BF3's got my vote on multiplayer but we'll see.
  • ExaltedByMark.

Nobody has played MW3 yet so just, relax.

There's a reason Infinity Ward takes 2 years to make a game and they fought Activision Tooth and Nail to keep it that way instead of taking a year like Trey Arch which always makes shitty games. (Call of Duty 3, World at War, Black Ops) I'm sure it's going to be great and if they showed game play like the BF3 video, we would be stoked on them both.

    Battlefield 3 looks freaking EPIC!!!

May have to pick up both. Who gets tired of these games anyway?

I hadnt noticed it was a Infinity Ward game.... so my expectations for it have definitely shot right back up. Doubt ill ever invest in a Trey Arch game again, black ops was absolute dogshite.

But still... Battlefield looks incredible (minus the melee combat).
  • ExaltedByMark.

Yeah man. I worked at Activision for several years and Trey Arch games were the absolute worst to test. So boring, nothing new and shitty graphics and sounds. I was a lead on Call of Duty 3 and worked on World at War too... Dreaded going to work.

Infinity Ward seriously makes quality games. That's why there isn't any comparison in the games every year.

    IW | COD 2 EPIC - TA | COD 3 HORRID
IW | COD 4 MW EPIC - TA | COD World At War HORRID
IW | COD MW2 EPIC - TA | COD Black Ops HORRID

It's not Infinity Ward that want's to make the same game. It's Activision that only cares about money being the publisher. Trey Arch is like the shitty $50 designer who does shitty rip offs. They guarantee a game every year and since Infinity Ward is all about quality, Activision tried to take them to court for it.

So again, MW3 should be a good game.

Black ops wasn't so bad. Worst than Infinity Ward's CODs? yes, but still a decent game.
  • Bear

People need to remember that Battlefield plays INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT from the COD franchise. I love them both equally, but this isn't BAD COMPANY 3, it's BATTLEFIELD 3, it's not going to be what you expect, if you think it's a head on comparison to MW3, unlike when MOH and MW2 dropped, they were in the same class.

It's almost time for my BATTLEFIELD 3 Beta to become active. YES.
  • Cant Draw Can Write

As long as it has a ZOMBIES mode, I will buy it.

Exactly. All Activision cares about is money. They are not going to risk hurting their formula to appease a small percentage of people.

Treyarch takes two years on their COD games just like IW does. Thats the reason why the COD developers alternate which years they release their games. Its been like that since COD4. And thats not the reason why IW fought so much with Activision or the reason why the heads of the studio were fired.

Cant Draw Can Write said:As long as it has a ZOMBIES mode, I will buy it.

It doesn't. Thats a Treyarch feature and MW3 is an IW game.
  • Andrew Haines

I refused to buy black ops specifically because I hated world at war. I'm pretty excited, this looks cool. I love the story lines for the MW games, I always play campaign before online though
  • M5Froth

So whats the diff in gameplay between COD and BF?
  • Husky

Is it me or has the whole fps in "popular tourist attractions" died out a tad?

I liked both but the BF3 just blew my mind, It's come to a point where I have no choice but to buy both!
  • Johnny Keko

Its NOT an infinity ward game. They are just using the name. Its 2 companies, Raven Software (developing the multiplayer) and Sledgehammer (developing the single player). Infinity Ward doesn't exist anymore, in that nobody works for them. Activision just owns the name and is using it to sell copies.

Pretty much. West and Zampella and the core that was IW has been bought out by EA. Depending on what happens with their lawsuit, they might even retain the IP rights to Call of Duty/Modern Warfare IP's(they're apparently filed as seperate IP ideas...somehow). IW is not Infinity Ward anymore. It only retains the name because Activision bought it out, but the entire crew there is different. The employees who were scared to quit due to fear of being black-listed and not getting money Activision owed them as part of the sales bonus they were promised(and still have not been paid) after the completion of MW2 are working under protest(those of you who don't know how the game industry works, the majority of the employees do not draw any sort of salary and make all their money upon the completion of certain criteria and often not until the game has been finished), so I honestly would expect less out of them than their previous works.

The lawsuits were supposed to be heard yesterday in court, but I am not sure what's come of them.

M5Froth said:So whats the diff in gameplay between COD and BF?

The MW series is about KD ratios and running around like a chicken with your head cut off. You can easily go solo and lead the entire team to victory or just end up with an insane KD ratio. The maps are rather small (even larger maps) compared to BF and there's no advancing to another location. You also have classes in MW which allows you to customize a class to your liking.

In Battlefield, you cooperate with your team as much as possible. Not sure how multiplayer will work for BF3 but in BF:BC2, you work with your team to plant at the enemies base. Unlike MW, you can't run the team by yourself. The maps are way larger in scale and there are around 4-6 locations you need to destroy. There are also UAV's, tanks, ATV's, and jeeps to accompany you in the fight. Classes in BF work cohesively as a unit to take out tanks, repair, snipe, assault and revive. So you shouldn't have a team of all assault or sniper. It needs to be varied in order to win.

Those are the main distinctions between the two titles. Overall, I love both titles/series and should never be compared to one another.
