Although people rip on it, "Atlas Shrugged" is good so far. Buy "The Walking Dead" series if you can. "The Time Traveler's Wife" is good. "Fight Club" and "The Hunger Games" were good, too.

anything by JD Salinger is my motto
if you haven't read classic dystopian novels like 1984 or Brave New World, those are great as well
also from Orwell, Animal farm is great (but short)

Salinger, Bukowski, Kerouac, Vonnegut etc are great authors, but there's also a bunch of classic books, starting from the Bible, Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, Frankenstein, Faust, that kind of shit

i absolutely HATED Frankenstein. although it was a slightly informed insight into the duality of man (and all that bullshit) it was dryer than Gandhi's flip flop for the most part.

well.. it's not a masterpiece written by a genius, but i like the book because it deals not only with this duality of human nature( well, even jeckyll & hyde deals it, not subtly), but the archetype of having the power over life and death, the golem motif and human ( rebel) taking the position of god
