  • primo

dubstep has blown up SO fast.
But yeah bassnectar never fails, rusko is cool, this dude Chrispy does some hot remixes, theres a dude from CO called omega that is really cool too, Benga is kinda different with less wobbles but is sorta hip hop-py.

enter shikari are tryhard dubstep, the last 2 albums they have released completley destoryed them.
they still have their tryhard brostep fanboys, because thats
exactly what they think dubstep is.

    -

    Good dubstep;
    Goli & Ashburner
    Cotti
    Caspa's new stuff
    Magnetic Man
    Funtcase
    Flux Pavillion
    Doctor P
    Trolley Snatcha
    Boregore
    Tek-One

I've got some really strong opinions on dubstep, especially in the UK, how its suddently everyones favourite music in the last year or 2. Dubstep has been around since 2005... it was in its prime then, people like benga, skream, caspa and rusko were playing tiny venues, for crowds of no more than 100, that was when dubstep was good, dubstep has only got better since, but the crowd its attracting has got worse.

The people ruining it are the kids that are still making the jokes "thats as filthy as hitlers gass bill", dubstep is not filthy... its the tryhards that say shit like that, that are ruining dubstep.

Few good websites with live mix's

  • otasorednad

man i love the wobbles! also enjoy a little DnB mixed in as well!
  • fracturize

  • cherrypistols

My friend Kriss does an amazing 8-bit dubstep, its like normal 8-bit music with beeps and blips then it just drops into a really sick low bass Dubstep he's got a few things up on his facebook page, check him out!

Just look for Zantos! on facebook his logo is like some horrible 8bit creation done in paint or something but yeah! :D
  • hellomynameis

has anyone heard magnetic mans new stuff, got a lot less dubstep.
although i highly recommend download their 2 hours essential mix.
skream, benga and artwork really know their stuff!
ruskos album, other than woo boost and the sub focus remix of hold on, is also a lot less dubstep.
i suppose its because caspa, rusko and magnetic were kind of the pioneers of dubstep, they made it what it is today. so now they are trying something different.

    anyway download;
    Magnetic Mans essential mix
    Caspa-My Style
    Caspa & Rusko-Fabriclive 37

    and heres some songs..

I was being serious. I like that shit. It's the hardcore dubstep fanboys that are bitching about ES 'not being dubstep'. They're not, their latest stuff is just influenced by it. Big difference.

And those last albums did not destroy them. I saw them a couple of times, met them personally, and they have awesome live shows in packed clubs. Last time I saw them there was a couple of thousand people there, here in the shithole called Belgium. Their shows are amazing, they play old and new stuff all together and it's amazing how everything just fits together.

    End rant, carry on.

On mardigras I was in a bar that started out rap and club music and then at like 4 in the morning it turned into dubstep. I was soo piss drunk that I enjoyed it, but I couldn't go into a place sober and have a good time to this

rawkid said: Back in the days when I used to go to clubs, besides having a drink and a plain old good time, you used to dance to impress your friends or chicks. How the hell do you dance to this music? The rhythm is a half-beat which is slow to dance to and it's more like fight music.

Don't get me wrong, I actually thought some of these we're pretty good, banging through my cans.

    Raves, underground clubs.

Glad to see some original names being thrown up in this thread like Digital Mystickz, Skream, Benga. Started listening to dubstep back in 2005/2006 after hearing Midnight request line by Skream:
Still one of my favourite tunes ever!
My advice would be to find yourselves a copy of all the Dubstep Allstars albums and start from there. Also check out Getdarker.com for weekly web cast dj sets from big names. I would suggest you also start listening to the Mary Anne Hobbs show on Radio 1 (UK) But sadly it is no more as of a couple of weeks :( Jump on www.dubstepforum.com too. Good to find upcoming nights in your area. Dubstep is not so much bedroom music but made for a club with a decent system that will make your chest rattle.

I do however like a large amount of the "filthy' side of dubstep that is all the rage at the moment. Producers like Datsik, Excision, Downlink, Trolley Snatcha, Cookie Monsta, Doctor P, Flux Pavillion, Funtcase, 16Bit, Koan Sound, Jakes,Barbarix, Culprate, Bar9, Numbernin6.

    Couple of tunes I rate:

and this tune has been floating around for a couple of months but is currently getting radio play and I can see it being HUGE!
