i'm looking for some artists to either

a. exchange prints with OR
b. send paper back and forth and colab with.

i used to exchange a lot with my friend Matt Cipov (http://www.mattcipov.com/ check him out he is unreal), but am looking for some fresh meat.

Yeah dude, I am in for sure. I kind of grabbed the idea from the book Hitten Switches (Michael Sieben and Travis Millard colab). They would draw something, mail it out and the other dude would add to it, take away, do whatever to just keep it going. and than they would start a new page or keep working on that one. I think the best way to do it may be with no rules, though.
  • quakerninja

sign me up. I've got a blank pre framed 3x5 feet primed canvas thats been sitting in the studio/garage for a year now. the idea was to give it the sketchbook treatment and fill the whole thing with doodles, like haveing a whole shetchbook on one page. I don't know how to ship it but I'd look into it. (If you have any shiping info I like to hear it.) You can reach me at quakerninja@hotmail.com The only rule I would have is to pay shiping for whoever you send it to. so I would pay now and when your ready to send it off you would pay and so on.
That or send in your doodles and I'll collage it in. That may be easyer. We could chip in for a print, and everyone would get a copy(s)

I'd be down for a digital version of this. although a hard real version might cause me to actually truly try to do some analog work.
  • quakerninja

I guess you could do analog and scan it in, and send it to me. I don't know if sending off a 3x5ft would work. or send it to justin ryan because it's his post. I was just brain storming.

haha no i would love for people to start doing stuff out of this too. not just with me.

this is actually one of the main reasons i want to do this. i like to draw, but never do it enough.
  • justinryan

Yeah Matt is a seriously good artist and person. I have two big folders full of prints and originals of his that I wouldn't sell for a million dollars. No, I would definitely sell them for a million, but you get the idea... he is legit.
  • quakerninja

get him to sign up here, I would wear all of his stuff.
some of my best work has been with colbs, but sadly i don't have a lot of my eary work. hang on to those drawings man.
  • Randomentity

we could do both, a digital and an analogue. one of us starts it off, then sends it to someone else, that person has it for a week, sends it to the next person, so on and so forth.
kind of like www.layertennis.com only without the competition part.
  • quakerninja

Id be up for digital, that big ass paper idea sounds good, I could always frame it up later. So maybe someone could start an official yoink post, like the sketch of the month deal but we could remix all the images. Do you guys want to do this here on emptees or like a flickr group? or even gameyy's art colilition. I love seeing how different minds come together, hope this works. For the mail out, I'm In Portland Or is there anyone in the west coast, I could start with so the shipping would be cheaper/ if thats the route were going. Or I could give first dibs to justinryan since it's his baby.
  • justinryan

No, by all means get whatever going. I'm glad this sparked some thought haha.
  • quakerninja

oops did I kill this. i was waiting for a volunteer for the mail out of a digital.
  • justinryan

anyone into doing something a little smaller? i'm talking 8.5x11 paper. like a zine.
  • justinryan

yeah i'm definitely up for the big piece but am also looking for one or even two people to just do like a zine with. even if it never gets printed. i just like having small prints from other artists to put on my walls haha.
  • quakerninja

how about a silhouette fill, just start with an outline of a figure, then you fill it with doodles. example
    m_hemingway_join
so let's get started send me a silhouette and I'll remix it.
Do we all have flickr, you can download from there. I say we all do a starter and post back here then just yoink remix and repost.
  • quakerninja

how about a big digital scroll just start with an 8.5x11 and stitch them together making a long ass digital scroll. I like the idea of hard copy but I'm to lazy to get that started. That way we can keep the flow of the original recieved file and introduce our own feel before sending off. I guess you could do hard copy on your own and scan, but make it digital for distribution.
  • Birdie31

hmmmm sounds like a good idea, but it seems like everyone wants to do something different...

OKAY listen, someone start a 300 dpi PSD letter size. do whatever, flatten to a single layer, everyone keeps a layer to themselves.Send it to the next person. the next person increases the canvas size by whatever they want, adds on. then sends and so on and so forth. if you use Illustrator, just drop the vector in as a smart object.
once it's finished i can print them off at work and send them out. i'm getting a HP 6100 next month, and i work at fedex kinkos. it's no big deal just pay me for the shipping.

    THERE
now, compile a list of people to do this.

mos def color is cool. And no rush, I'd say take as long as you need.
once this file gets going its going to get up in size, so we'll have to use rapidshare or something.

    But I'm in whenever
