Paula Tabor is an artist of striking versatility. Gifted at drawing at an early age, she showed a remarkable affinity for portraiture by 15. She attended the University of South Florida's College of Fine Arts. With some additional overseas study credits at the University of Limerick, Ireland and an internship at USF's prestigious Graphicstudio, she graduated Cum Laude in 1999.
She spent her childhood summers mostly at the local library where she spent hours looking at a compilation book on Art Nouveau posters and ads. The book illustrations of artists like Will Bradley and Aubrey Beardsley were limited by the print techniques and cost of their day, but Paula was struck by the simplicity and strength of that style. As a teenager in the 80's, recognized that nuance in the flat graphic style of Patrick Nagel. Eventually, she came to find her own artistic style as a melange of those influences aided with the gradients and perfect lines of modern digital technology.
She enjoys using text to hint meaning about book illustrations or products that exist either only her own imagination or obscure fictional, mythological or poetical content. She leaves it to the viewer to use their own imagination for the source.
